To achieve the best results from a silverfish treatment, it is important to carry out the following steps:

Before the Treatment

ü All floors should be thoroughly vacuumed. Particular attention should be given to harbourages such as along baseboards and in lower cupboards.

ü Any hard floor surfaces should be swept or vacuumed and washed.

ü All contents of lower kitchen cupboards and drawers, as well as bathroom cabinets, must be removed.

ü All shelf paper must be slit at the edges so that we have access to the cracks and crevices in the cupboards.

ü All personal possessions and items such as toys, books, clutter, should be removed from the floors, including the closet floor.

ü Move all furniture (sofas, beds, etc.) at least two feet away from the walls. The technician must be able to reach the baseboards without obstruction. For your safety, please do not move large wall units.

ü Any cardboard boxes used for storage near the infested areas should be emptied and discarded

ü Ensure that aquariums are removed or covered and that the filter and pump are disconnected.

Precaution:

When insecticide treatments are applied to enclosed areas or continuously occupied living or working spaces, people and pets should vacate for 4-6 hours. Pregnant women, Children under 2 years of age and people with respiratory problems or health concerns should vacate for 12 to 24 hours and consult their doctor. Pet birds should be out for 24 hours.

Following treatment

ü Ventilate upon re-entry to the treated area by opening doors and windows.

ü DO NOT wash floors near baseboards for a minimum of 8 weeks following treatment.

Please Note

Silverfish activity may be observed for a couple of weeks after treatment. This is not unusual and may be due to newly hatched insects, which have not yet come into contact with the insecticide. The insects will eventually die. If you are still seeing activity after three weeks, contact our office and we will organize for any additional treatment that may be necessary.
